Likewise, <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"Villa\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/villa\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/villa;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.01y8xw;http:\/\/yago-knowledge.org\/resource\/Villa;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Villa\" >villas<\/a> in Portugal and Cyprus, all with central locations within the cities they were situated, are all available for the same budget.<\/p>\n<p>Cape Town, South Africa offers the best property equivalent for the London price overall. A seven-bedroom detached house here, complete with seven bathrooms, two <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"garage\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/garage-residential\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/garage_residential;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.08l44y;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Garage_(residential)\" >garages<\/a> and a pool, is \u00a34,030 cheaper and over six times the size of a one bedroom flat in central London.<\/p>\n<p>At the opposite end of the spectrum, Melbourne in Australia was the city where property had the closest resemblance to London in <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"Contractual term\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/contractual-term\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/contractual_term;http:\/\/yago-knowledge.org\/resource\/Contractual_term;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.02rfhkx;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Contractual_term\" >terms<\/a> of price and size. A three-bedroom apartment could be purchased in the centre of the world\u2019s most liveable city, for just \u00a318k shy of the London price.<\/p>\n<p>However, despite London\u2019s astronomical property prices and people\u2019s perceptions, it was one of the most <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"Affordable housing\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/affordable-housing\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/affordable_housing;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.09jvc1;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Affordable_housing\" >affordable<\/a> places to live. A weekly shop in the capital costs \u00a349, cheaper than the likes of Sacramento (\u00a371), Melbourne (\u00a357), Madrid (\u00a364), Wellington (\u00a353) and Marseille (\u00a351).\u00a0 So what the UK\u2019s capital lacks in property value, it certainly makes up in terms of the costs of living, outdoing its international rivals to be more affordable for everyday
