The piece goes into detail about the simplicity of student <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"Landlord\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/landlord\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/landlord;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.02mx_6;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Landlord\" >landlords<\/a> subletting their properties when vacated outside of term times and that \u2018the landlord may not withhold consent unreasonably\u2019 when a <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"tenants\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/leasehold-estate\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/leasehold_estate;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.03jg1x;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Leasehold_estate\" >tenant<\/a> requests to sublet their property. According to the blog, the freedom ruling had been \u2018enshrined\u2019 in <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"Common land\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/common-land\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/common_land;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.013c51;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Common_land\" >common<\/a> law since 1927. As they state, the tenant\u2019s right to sublet had \u2018slipped from public consciousness and was replaced by a convenient truth\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who can\u2019t be bothered to read the entire article, Unlease have kindly summarised it below with a \u2018Too Long; Didn\u2019t Read\u201d synopsis (we\u2019re not sure how appropriate a \u2018TL;DR\u2019 is when handing out potentially controversial legal advice\u2026. Many entrepreneurs have bright ideas and good intentions.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps more could be done to explain the rules of housing and tenancy rights to students. For many, this is their first experience of dealing with tenancy agreements, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/let-for-free\" title=\"letting agents\">letting agents<\/a> and landlords. To prevent misinformation, student tenants should have better access to accurate and comprehensive information on tenancy law at their university or maybe even at sixth form, before they make the transition into further education.<\/p>\n<p>We will have to wait and see how the Unlease vs. Nearly Legal debacle turns out, but we\u2019ll be sure to update you with any new <a
