color: black; font-size: 10pt;\">Fears of job cuts, public spending reductions and a double dip recession have led to UK property prices beginning to fall back once again.\u00a0However, a new generation of buyers looking to live in the heart of Bristol is driving demand and prices in the historic city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; color: black; font-size: 10pt;\">Harbourside regeneration<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; color: black; font-size: 10pt;\">As the recession began to bite, many people were sceptical that the regeneration of the Harbourside area of the city would be a success.\u00a0However, just forty of the luxury apartments in the <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"Real estate development\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/real-estate-development\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/real_estate_development;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.028sdw;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Real_estate_development\" >development<\/a> remain for sale and half of the\u00a0<a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"Property\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/property\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/property;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.05wrt;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Property\" >properties<\/a> at the new Great Western site alongside Isambard Kingdom Brunel\u2019s iconic SS Great Britain have been sold in just four months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; color: black; font-size: 10pt;\">George Cardale, a local <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\"  href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/estate-agent\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/estate_agent;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.02dzpr;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Estate_agent\" >estate agent<\/a>, said, \u201cThere has been plenty of talk about a slump in the housing market but Bristol is one of our best performing offices in the country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; color: black; font-size: 10pt;\">Downsizing to the city<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; color: black; font-size: 10pt;\">The majority of buyers reserving the luxury properties are not young, upwardly mobile professionals but people in their fifties and sixties looking to downsize.\u00a0They are people whose children have left <a class=\"wl-entity-page-link\" title=\"Housing estate\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehouseshop.com\/property-blog\/housing-estate\/\" data-id=\"http:\/\/data.wordlift.io\/wl0502\/entity\/housing_estate;http:\/\/rdf.freebase.com\/ns\/m.01rtvp;http:\/\/dbpedia.org\/resource\/Housing_estate\" >home<\/a> are who are now looking to move back to the centre of the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; color: black; font-size: 10pt;\">Mr Cardale added, \u201cAbout 50 per cent of the people we deal with are in this bracket and are looking to downsize.\u00a0Many of them live in the country and are looking to move back into the city for quality of life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;
