When you move into a new house, you need to make sure that all of the things you purchase for it are convenient and easy to use. Whether that means installing hardwood floors instead of covering everything with carpet or buying the simplest and easiest to handle washing machine you can afford, the fact of the matter is that you need everything around you to make your life a lot easier.
To save you some time that you’d otherwise have to spend researching the topic, we’ve put together a list of three essential kitchen appliances that can simplify your day-to-day existence.
A quality freezer
Getting a refrigerator is one thing, as most people own one already and probably use it more than they would have imagined. Yet one of the other appliances that people forget all about is a quality freezer. If you don’t have enough room in the house, you can get a compact one.
We suggest considering a freezer because, with its assistance, you will be able to store lots of frozen goodies and use them as you need them. In fact, many stores either have seasonal sales, or they put some foods on sale before they get broken down or spoiled. We’re not suggesting that you should always eat meals made with such ingredients. But the fact of the matter is that there’s nothing stopping you from getting several packs of chicken thighs when they’re cheaper, and then keeping them in your freezer until you need them.
Most meats can be frozen and consumed for as many as six months. If you tend to forget things, we suggest using stickers on the bags with the date you have purchased and frozen them.
The best electric kettle you can afford
An electric kettle is often more important than a coffee machine. Besides, the second is usually much more expensive compared to the first. Depending on how you take your coffee, you can use the kettle to heat up some water and then use it in your French press. While not too many Americans are as fond as tea as the entire British nation is, a delicious cup of tea can go a long way when it comes to dealing with a nasty cold.
We do have to make a notable mention, however, and it is related to the fact that you should avoid electric kettles made of plastic. Unless you know for sure that the plastic that the appliance was manufactured of is BPA-free, you should try to steer clear of them. There are many models made from stainless steel, which are both far healthier when compared to those made from plastic, and way easier to clean and maintain.
A convection microwave oven
While these things can cost a pretty penny, we couldn’t recommend them more. The convection oven can be used to actually prepare food, while the microwave function can be employed to heat up your leftovers.
Even though the general belief is that using a microwave to heat up anything from water to food is unhealthy, the fact is that it is not. As the World Health Organization puts it, food cooked or heated in a microwave oven does not become radioactive.
