Noisy neighbours nark Nigella

Have you ever been involved in a row with your neighbours?

Well, it seems that over-the-fence arguments are not something reserved for Eastenders and the tabloid newspapers. Now, celebrity chef Nigella Lawson and her partner Charles Saatchi have become entangled in a bitter dispute with their London neighbours over continuing building work.

 This is London reported that Mr Saatchi is understood to have been questioned by local police over the dispute.

 Couple reach end of tether over noisy building work

Noisy building works about Lawson and Saatchi’s £10 million Belgravia home have recently led to the pair reaching the end of their tether. The row began when scaffolding was erected at the rear of the property, which the couple pleased with their neighbours to remove. When their request was ignored, it is believed that the 67 year old art collector ordered his own workmen to remove the scaffolding.

Neighbours of the celebrity couple have backed them in the row and, according to the newspaper, ‘did not blame the couple for allegedly ordering workmen in after building work was said to have exceeded its deadline.’

The building work was being undertaken by an Egyptian couple who live above Mr Saatchi and Ms Lawson in the six-storey Regency terrace.

Alleged £50,000 worth of damages

Saatchi and Lawson have been accused of causing £50,000 of damage to a set of marble bathroom tiles which had been shipped in from Italy when the scaffolding was removed.   Mr Saatchi, 67, is understood to have been questioned by local police but officers have decided it is a civil matter.
