Looking to redecorate on the cheap? Or have something that’s unique to your home? Maybe you just want to show off and feel that DIY is theperfect way to do so? Whatever option, Pinterest is here to help.

For those who don’t know, Pinterest is an online site where you can pin articles, photos and quotes to different boards that you can customise. You can have a board called Gardens where you add pictures of all different, well gardens, that you like the look of, or flowers that you want to grow. Its simple, its quick, its very addictive, and now that it’s grown in popularity, there are many different categories that you can scroll through.

One of these is the sometimes feared DIY and Crafts. Here you can find easy and beautiful creations that can make your home the best it can possibly be. Some of these examples include pillowcases made from napkins,or the unforgettable pebble hanger where you can stick pebbles to the wall to hang your necklaces on.

Are you feeling inspired yet?

Pinterest has a vast selection of pins, so there are bound to be some more interesting ones, or the classic ones that look so effortless and simple, but will have you weeping with frustration into your PVA glue.

A word of warning, Pinterest photos are rarely taken from real homes. They’re from other websites where professional photography and a lot of clever lighting can make even the most slapdash piece of furniture look perfectly shabby chic.

So if you’re looking at a craft idea and thinking hmm, well I suppose it looks good in the photo then back away! Back away from the pins, they will only look a mess in real life. These have been made by skilled artists, and unless you’re one as well, theres no need to feel defeated if you just cant make that crochet door separator that seemed so perfect for the kitchen.

This doesn’t mean there aren’t a few gems scattered around,or that you cant get ideas from the less well thought out pins, but its good to remember that in the world of online craft, starting out with the basics is the best idea.
