The What House? Awards have received a boost by winning sponsorship from search engine giant Google. Despite a bad year for the house building industry the awards are seen as a necessary part of a house builders marketing strategy and to raise the profile of any new housing developments in the UK

“The What House? Awards put us on the national stage. On the sales front we have always promoted the company’s outstanding design skill and quality when we market a development. To underline this with the kudos of a What House award is a huge added bonus,” said Roger Carson, managing director of Rosemullion Homes.

Ben Wood, head of property at Google “Google are once again delighted to be involved with the What House? Awards for 2010. We look forward to another successful year working closely with What House? and the UK house building industry, helping to improve marketing efficiency and driving more quality leads,”

The Awards reward house builders and developers, large and small, across 23 categories. There are four new Housing Association categories this year, recognising the hugely important role the sector has in kick-starting the market by delivering thousands of affordable homes through various initiatives.

Rupert Bates, editorial director of Show House and annual host of the What House? Awards, said Google had prompted a lot of headlines in the property market in the last six months, ever since they first came on board as a What House? Awards sponsor last September.

“We are so pleased to have arguably the world’s biggest brand as a sponsor once again. We were the first to tell the industry about Google’s plans to make big inroads into the UK property market and build relationships with the house builders,” said Bates.
